[First Prefectural Visits] Fijian Ambassador to Japan meets leaders of Akita Prefecture, and vows to strengthen and deepen ties with Akita.
HE Mr. Filimone Waqabaca visited Akita Prefecture for 3 days, 3-5 October 2022.
While in Akita, HE Waqabaca met with Governor Norihisa SATAKE of Akita Prefecture; Mayor Motomu HOZUMI of Akita City; Mr Hiroki MIURA, Chairman of the Akita Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Akita; Mr Fumio YAMAMOTO, President of Akita University; and Mr Hiroyuki SAGAWA, President of the Akita Sakigake Shimpo Daily Newspaper.
Ambassador-designate Waqabaca’s visit to Akita reinforces Fiji`s commitment to enhance and strengthen relations with Akita and the Tohoku region. Promotion of greater social and cultural exchange opportunities for all people, expansion of rugby and sports diplomacy, education, sister-city, and further encouraging business ties between Fiji and Akita prefecture were discussed at length.
Ambassador-designate Waqabaca was accompanied by First Secretary Ms. Kelera Savu; Fiji`s Honorary Consul in Sendai, Mr. Hiroki Miura; and Akita City Officer/ Northern Bullets RC Coach, Mr. Setareki Tawake.
