The 2nd PALM&G Meeting in Mie

Charge d’ Affaires Kelera Savu attended the 2nd Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting & Governors (PALM & G) Meeting hosted by Mie Prefecture at Shima Kanko Hotel in Shima City, Mie. The meeting chaired by His Excellency Mr. Katsuyuki Ichimi, Governor of Mie, gathered participants from six Pacific island countries and eleven local governments. The meeting focussed on three key themes of environment, health, and sports, with discussions that delve into the latest developments of people-to-people exchanges, trade, and business development, including SME Chamber of Commerce and Industries as well as labour mobility.

The agenda of the meeting also included the endorsement for Akita Prefecture and Oita Prefecture to join the Local Government Networking; together with Initiatives for interpersonal exchange and human resource development with Pacific Island countries, Review of the last three years’ activities by His Excellency Mr. Seiji Hamada, Governor of Kochi Prefecture, and the Report of FY2021 activities and initiatives proposed for human capital exchange and human resource development.
